Heineman told reporters Monday that the group plans to develop a
list of initiatives states can follow to create more jobs and
attract fast-growing businesses. He said the effort will focus on
recruiting companies from outside the United States, and connecting
companies with state research institutions.

Heineman was named the group's chair during its annual meeting
over the weekend in Salt Lake City.

Heineman said the group will host four summits over the next
year to connect governors and their economic development advisers
with entrepreneurs and research groups. The summits will be held in
Hartford, Conn., Nashville, Tenn., Seattle, Wash., and Omaha.
