A new health clinic opens in Iowa City next week and it’s different from any other in the state, serving lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender patients. Physicians say the goal is to give them better access to the care they need.
“We heard of folks that felt uncomfortable, we heard of folks that felt like they weren't being heard or the physician didn't know what to do to take care of them properly,” says Nicole Nisly, professor of internal medicine with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The University of Iowa says the unique project will also help medical students get better training.
