A prisoner who escaped in suburban Des Moines while being transferred for a court hearing in a burglary case was captured Friday night. Thirty-seven-year-old Kenny Bevard was found hiding under the porch of a house in Prole, just south of Des Moines.
Bevard suffered minor injuries from resisting a K-9 used to bring him out. He was treated and taken to the Polk County Jail. Forty-one-year-old Casey Joe Risius was arrested and faces charges for allegedly aiding and abetting Bevard.
Bevard escaped around 4:50 p.m. Thursday in Clive while being driven to Adel in Dallas County. He was handcuffed when got out and ran as the Dallas County sheriff's vehicle stopped in traffic.
Bevard has served prison time for burglary and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
