Habitat for Humanity Awards

Hundreds of people came together on the Creighton University campus Thursday evening to honor the efforts of building 31-homes for Habitat for Humanity in 2011.

The 3rd annual Raise the Roof gala awarded TD Ameritrade with the Spirit of Humanity/Corporate Partner award.

Dundee Presbyterian Church, who has worked with Habitat for 20-years, received the Faith Partner award. "To see smiles on a family's face when they get to walk into their home, when they get to turn the key, even as we're building that home with them, they get to own that," said Pastor Bob Jordan.

Those who built 7 homes in 7 days this summer received the Collaborative Partners award: Charleston Homes, Kiewit Building Group, Lueder Construction, Lund-Ross Constructors, MCL Construction, SL Jensen Construction and Vantage Design and Construction.

Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity Omaha has built 331 homes. Kim Tolbert-Jones, who put in the 350-hours of sweat equity in her Habitat home, thanked the builders and volunteers. "It's the beginning of a beautiful life." The home was done in time for the family to have their first Christmas.
