Investigators are searching for a suspect after a shooting in Louisville Monday night.
Deputies are seeking Steven I Harrod 64 of Louisville in connection with the shooting. Harrod is described as a white male who is 5'11" and weighs 185 pounds. He is to be considered armed and dangerous and anyone having contact with him should call 911. He is believed to be in the Lincoln area.
“There's not really anything that happens like this,” said one resident. “It was pretty shocking driving by not knowing what's going on.”
It was even more shocking to the woman who discovered it all. She asked not to be identified, so WOWT isn’t naming her. But she says she literally drove past the scene.
“Saw a girl standing in the street crying and hysterical,” said the woman.
She said she knew something wasn't right and stopped.
“I asked her if she was okay and she screamed back and me and said her boyfriend had been shot. So I turned off my car and tried to help,” said the woman.
She said she ran inside and found a man shot, bleeding, still breathing but unable to speak.
“He was in a lot of pain, I guess you could tell, so I called 911 and I just tired to keep him calm and talk to him. And tell him that help was on the way,” said the woman. “I didn't really know what to do for him. I wish I could have done more.”
Cass County Captain David Lamprecht says 32-year-old man and was flown to the Creighton Medical Center.
He says they know who the suspect is but wouldn't identify him, only saying they are still searching for him.
In the meantime, residents are trying to understand why something like this could happen in a town like Louisville.
“It's a great town, I’d never imagine that there would be a shooting here, especially to just drive up on it,” said the woman.
The suspect was one of several people inside the house at the time of the shooting.
