A group in Omaha aims to help mothers of special needs children get the recognition they deserve, but has run short on donations this year and is asking for help.

This is the third year that Project Mother's Day has been reaching out to deserving mother's across the metro.

They deliver flowers, breakfast and gift bags to mothers who care for children with significant special needs.

"Many of these moms spent countless hours every week caring for a child who is totally dependent on their mom to dress, brush teeth, administer medications and medical treatments. Many of them lift their children in and out of wheelchairs, change diapers, and sleep beside their child in the hospital," said founder, Nancy Gillett

This year, donations have been slow going and the organization depends on them to make this project possible.

They are reaching out and hoping the public steps forward to help them out.

They plan to deliver the donations to moms on May 11th.
