A political scandal has cost the Gretna mayor her job. Incumbent Sally McGuire finished last out of 4 candidates during Tuesday's primary.
McGuire's city administrator, Colleen Lawry, was fired and then arrested for theft in the last three weeks.
Days before, an audit by the Nebraska State Auditor was critical of the city's handling of company credit cards and questioned the number of trips taken by Lawry.
McGuire told voters she was disappointed in the actions of Lawry, but judging from the vote, she's been unable to distance herself from the scandal.
Jim Timmerman will take on Kip Edmonds for the mayor's job. Timmerman received 35% of the vote to 29% for Edmonds.
Andrew Harpenau received 24% of the vote.
Sally McGuire received 102 votes or 12%.
In the 2008 General Election, McGuire won with 69% of the vote.
