If you haven't been by the Nebraska Crossing Outlet construction site in Gretna in the past couple months, you may not even recognize it now.
The buildings on the site are mostly enclosed. The supports for seven electronic billboard signs are up near the interstate. And some retailers are preparing to start moving into their spaces.
Sak's Fifth Avenue, Polo, Coach, Cole Haan, Under Armour, Nike, Brooks Brothers, and Johnston & Murphy are just some of the brands that will be opening up outlet stores.
"We expect a draw from the entire state," says Rod Yates with OTB Destination, the developer of the project. "We expect a draw from Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Des Moines. Pretty much from a four or five-state region. Because we'll have these all-new type of brands in this region. So our trade area that we project is 125 miles, 150 miles."
The new circular layout is also different from the old single-file line of stores.
"We call it a race track where you can come in and shop in circles if you will," said architect Larry Smith with Avant Architects. "Parking is conveniently located all around the center. So it's a much more pleasant experience. You don't get down a half mile to the end and have to come back. You can keep circling as you like."
The grand opening for the Nebraska Crossing Outlets is November 15th.
The new outlet center will have 65 stores and 350,000 square feet of floor space.
The developers will continue to announce more new stores as the November grand opening date approaches.
