The bomb squad was called to a Bellevue home, in the area of 25th and Olive Street, Monday afternoon to remove a live grenade.

According to police, the widow of a World War II veteran called police after discovering a couple grenades in her home. She told police her husband brought them home from the war as a souvenir; however, she didn't know they were in the home until recently when he passed away.

The woman said they found the grenade while cleaning out her husband's belongings. She took it out to the curb and then called police.

The bomb squad took the grenade to an undisclosed location to detonate it.
