Thousands flocked to downtown Omaha Saturday for the chance to celebrate that streak of Irish that lives in the heart, if not the family bloodline, during the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
With a green horse leading the way, it was an event many didn't want to miss. Bob Ryan and his family say they never do. "Parade day is like a national holiday to us and my family. It's probably been about 15 years that we've been coming to the parade and really for the kids and to have them see the green and to get some candy, so real excited."
The parade had it all. There were Irish dancers, marching bands and floats as well as police and fire crews.
Erin Palma and family came out sporting their green. "We get to spend family time. We get to meet new people. There's dogs to pet, there's candy for the kids, get to have some donuts and milk and just enjoy the outside. It's a gorgeous day."
