A murder case has been turned over to a jury in south-central Nebraska.
The jury began deliberating Monday afternoon and is expected to resume its work Tuesday at Hall County District Court in Grand Island.
The jurors are reviewing the testimony in the first-degree murder trial of 35-year-old Arkanjelo Kot, of Grand Island. Kot is charged with fatally shooting Walid Omar-Aden on July 14, 2010, at a Grand Island convenience store.
Prosecutors say Kot shot the 17-year-old Omar-Aden in a deliberate manner after they argued outside the store. Kot's attorney, Clarence Mock, says Kot had been afraid for his life since being targeted in a 2009 shooting that killed another man. Mock says Kot didn't intend to kill Omar-Aden.
