Last Saturday Emily and Chris Magrin got married in Michigan, Wednesday night on their drive back to their home in Colorado they stopped in Council Bluffs. It was late, so they grabbed their clothes, electronics and left most of their gifts in the car. Thursday morning they woke up to an unexpected surprise.

“The most amazing day of our lives,” Emily Magrin said.

Chris and Emily have been married for five days.

“We just kept telling everybody the last few days that it was amazing, thank you so much for everything and to our parents to making it the most amazing day of our lives,” Magrin said.

A few days later the two packed up their car and headed home to Colorado. Wednesday night they stopped at a hotel in Council Bluffs hoping to get a good night's sleep and continue on.

“When we went out this morning around 10:30 am our car was gone. Everything. Our wedding gifts, our whole lives, the car the presents, the luggage, the clothes, everything gone,” Emily said.

After contacting police, they learned, there was more to the story.

“To wake up to everything gone and then to be told yeah this is a kind of a regular occurrence that's happening in Council Bluffs recently,” Chris said.

But they immediately took action, heading to all the pawn shops in the area with a list of items missing. So far they've come up empty handed and disappointed.

‘”We just kinda trust people. We’re teachers, we teach people to do good, if you do good, good will come back to you. And that whole philosophy treat other people the way you want to be treated, says that I should be able to leave my stuff in the car, not matter how expensive they to us we would never touch somebody else's things,” Chris said.

The couple was driving a black 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee police say it will likely turn up in the next few days, though they don't expect to get any of the gifts back. The Magrin’s have already contacted their insurance company and say they waiting to hear back.

Perhaps the most devastating loss, some of the irreplaceable items, like Emily’s grandma's crystal.
