Convenience stores don’t make much money on gas and with fuel prices so high people don’ t have any extra money to spend inside the store on food and drink. Fast food restaurants crave convenience store customers who want a quick meal on the run from a brand they recognize.
“Surveys show convenience store customers will spend on snacks but are hesitant to buy a meal because they don’t think of convenience stores as a place to sit down and eat,” says Jillian Clothier, Director of Franchise Development for Kahala, Blimpie’s parent company.
