Lincoln police say it appears someone who was talking on a cell phone did not realize his was approaching a “T” intersection early Sunday morning. He ended up crashing into a car which was parked in a driveway.
The parked car was pushed backwards through a garage, causing severe damage to the contents of the garage.
The family that owns the home slept right through it.
Police say when Gary Lockett, Senior woke up, he discovered all of the damage. He tells police it must have happened between 12:30am and 5:15am Sunday. Police believe the suspect was westbound on C Street when he crossed SW 8th Street and entered the driveway.
The driver abandoned his Ford Explorer, which was left disabled by the impact. Police contacted the owner of the Explorer, 43-year old Samuel Loliwa, who lives about eight blocks south of Lockett.
Loliwa was cited for careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
Damage to Lockett’s car, his garage and the contents is estimated at $28,000.
