A public meeting was held in Omaha Tuesday night where city leaders discussed the future of transportation in the city.
It was the fourth meeting where people could hear the results of a two year study and voice their opinions. Right now city leaders are discussing putting in a bus rapid transit, modern street car, or both.
The goal is to create an easy and accessible way for people to get around the city. “To try and look to the future, to be more than we are today. Create a possibly more urban lifestyle than we have today. Free up some of the parking lot land we have downtown, perhaps to put buildings on,” said Executive Director of Metro Transit, Curt Simon.
City leaders plan to take the feedback and continue to come up with the best plan.
