More than 50 other food items will be available. They include chocolate covered fried ice cream on a stick and peanut butter & jelly on a stick. Other food items that will not be sold on a stick (though you can add your own after purchase) include red velvet funnel cake, BBQ ribs, and chicken Philly sandwiches.
The Iowa State Fair runs August 11-21 in Des Moines. Fairgoers can print advance admission tickets at home by going to iowastatefair.org.
To further celebrate the 100th birthday of the Butter Cow, the fair is unveiling a new contest: The Battle of the Butter. Contestants will create a dairy masterpiece from a 50 pound block of butter. There will be a daily winner whose work of art will be on display next to the world-famous Butter Cow.
