Tech companies, including Apple and Google, have reason to celebrate. They've won court approval of a deal valued at over a half-billion dollars for Eastman Kodak patents being sold as part of Kodak's bid to avoid bankruptcy.
Stocks ended the day mixed and little changed after banking stocks kept the markets at bay.
Netflix, the largest U.S. mail-order movie rental service got special treatment from the U.S. Postal Service, which discriminated against other mail-order companies, according to a federal appeals court ruling. The suit was originally brought on by video game rent-by-mail service Gamefly in 2011. The ruling could lead to changes in the way Netflix movies are handled by the Postal Service.
It looks like more companies are looking for leadership from outside. From Yahoo to Avon, 29 percent of CEOs hires last year were external, the most in 17 years.
