Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 275 at West Maple Road just west of Waterloo, Nebraska late Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of a northbound vehicle, 34-year-old Jeffrey Flynn, lost control on the viaduct, crossed the center line and hit a southbound vehicle around 5 p.m. Both vehicles then caught fire.

His wife, 24-year-old Jessica Flynn, and their 4-year-old son were also in the car. Jessica was ejected from the vehicle. Both she and Jeffrey were taken to the hospital where they are in serious but stable condition. Their son suffered minor head injuries. The other driver, 44-year-old Ricky McGee, was not hurt.

Douglas County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Marty Bilek said sleet was falling at the time and icy conditions had been reported. "You need to slow down and not take any chances. That way when you transition from a surface road to a bridge deck the speed won't be so great that you lose control of your car crossing into oncoming traffic."

It’s the same spot where where four people were killed in slick conditions on January 18th.
