Four people were injured when a driver went through a red light at an Omaha intersection Saturday morning.
Police say the driver of a Nissan Altima heading northbound on 72nd Street ran the light at Dodge Street, hitting a westbound Chevy Malibu just after 3 a.m. An off-duty police officer witnessed the accident.
The driver of the Malibu, 26-year-old Ashley Mruz of Omaha, was eight months pregnant and not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition due to the pregnancy. She suffered a broken hip and an emergency delivery was done. She has a boy.
A passenger in the Malibu, 25-year-old Stephon Smily of Omaha, was hospitalized with a facial laceration and back pain.
The driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Carlos Moore of Omaha, and his passenger, 22-year-old Angel Powell of Omaha, were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Channel 6 News heard a police officer say the Nissan smelled of alcohol when he opened the door of the vehicle. Police say speed is also being investigated as a factor in the crash.
