Officials say the troubled Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant isn't likely to restart anytime soon.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Omaha Public Power District will offer another update on the plant that sits about 20 miles north of Omaha at a public meeting in Blair on Tuesday.
Utility officials have abandoned their earlier goal of restarting Fort Calhoun this fall. The plant initially shut down for routine maintenance in 2011, but flooding along the Missouri River and several safety violations forced it to remain offline.
OPPD officials say they plan to heat up the plant in December for final inspections, but it's not clear when regulators will allow the utility to restart Fort Calhoun's nuclear reactor.
