Former Iowa Deputy Sued
Black Hawk County has sued a former deputy, trying to recover its training costs.
The county says Eric Eastman agreed when he was hired in January 2009 to serve four years as a deputy.
The county claims it spent nearly $17,700 to train Eastman, which included $4,000 for tuition at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.
But the 31-year-old Eastman left the job in February 2010, nearly three years short of the four years he had agreed to serve.
The county filed the lawsuit earlier this month, seeking more than $15,000.
