A former member of the WOWT NBC Omaha family has passed away, following a more than four year battle with pancreatic cancer.
A celebration of Jim Fagin's life will be held Wednesday, December 11 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Faith Westwood Church, 4814 Oaks Lane. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to UNMC for cancer research.
Fagin, 68, died Monday afternoon at the Josie Harper Residence, a Hospice facility, in Omaha. Jim was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and underwent surgery and six months of chemotherapy before being declared "cancer free." Unfortunately, the cancer returned.
Fagin's wife, Karen, told WOWT 6 News that Jim had not received any treatment in the last year.
Many will remember Fagin from his time as a reporter at WOWT; however, he served as the Communications Director for former Nebraska Senator J.J. Exon and former Senator Ben Nelson. He retired from politics when Nelson left office.
