A man deputies describe as a former pro football player is arrested after threatening officers. 40 year old Paul Hawley was also tasered.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s report states that Hawley allegedly assaulted a man at a bar near 169th and Center in West Omaha about 2am Tuesday. A deputy first on the scene said Hawley acted aggressively toward him so the deputy pulled his taser and waited for backup.
When Omaha officers arrived Hawley alleged acted as if he would be handcuffed then pulled away as if to strike with his hands. The deputy then deployed the taser and the report said Hawley fell to the floor and hit his face. Hawley was taken to a nearby hospital then released and booked. The report alleged Hawley played Pro football.
The report lists Hawley as six foot four and weighing 320 pounds. He faces charges of obstructing law enforcement and resisting arrest. .
