Heavy rain overnight triggered flooding in many areas within a few miles of the Missouri River Monday. Attached to this story is a report from Chase Moffitt at 35th and Avenue G. He found water lapping at the pumps at a gasoline station and convenience store.
About 30 children found themselves stuck on their bus Monday morning in Council Bluffs (see attached photo, supplied by WOWT viewer Tom Guilliam). The bus stalled in several feet of standing water near 30th and Atlantic Avenue. A National Guard transport truck was used to bring the children to higher ground.
The overnight storm caused some power outages, but nothing like the widespread outages the metro saw after a storm Thursday afternoon.
