First Professional Female Firefighter in State to Retire

Tuesday, a recognition ceremony will be held for Carolyn "Kelly" Williams to honor her for her 26 years of service as an area firefighter.

Mayor Suttle announced the ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the Mayor's office.

Kelly began her career as a firefighter with the Millard Fire Department in 1986. Kelly is the first paid, professional female firefighter in the state of Nebraska.

Kelly has been a member of the Omaha Fire Department since 1998. She will retire on December 31, 2012.
