Last weekend's Husker game was a first, first game of the season, first time a new seating section was used and the first time a man performed with the university's flag line.
Sam Guyer took the field at halftime with the rest of the squad, though he's no stranger to the sport. He performed with his Lincoln Southeast High School color guard, but says performing on the college level can be tough. “There were moments that were difficult and name calling, but it's worth it because it's something I love.”
The flag team's been performing in Lincoln for the past 39 years, but only three men have auditioned since 2002. Guyer hopes he'll inspire more men to try out.
