First Data Restructures, About 60 Omaha Employees Laid Off

First Data released a statement to Channel 6 News on Thursday citing restructuring to simplify and streamline work as the reason the company eliminated 60 positions in Omaha and a total of 125 company wide.

In the statement, First Data called the decision to reduce the workforce a difficult one.

"These decisions are never easy to make and we understand the impact on people’s lives."

"We are committed to doing everything that we can to support impacted employees through this transition. All eligible employees will receive severance benefits and outplacement services."

The company employs around 5,000 people in Omaha.
