The Nebraska Humane Society is using a different method to help people find their missing pets.
The organization's Facebook page was being flooded with posts of lost animals, but the shelter prefers to use its Facebook page to promote pets up for adoption. So, it’s now taking missing animal posts and sending the message out via Twitter.
“That way we can spread the message to the people in the Omaha area who follow us to keep an eye out for the dogs that are missing or the cats that are missing in the area,” says the Humane Society’s Elizabeth Hilpipre.
If you think you spot a lost pet matching the description on Twitter, you can call the Humane Society at 402-444-7800 or attempt to call the owner if you have that information.
"We feel terrible for them, so we always know how panicked people are when they do lose their animals. So, we are using Twitter to help get the message out and help those people. This is kind of our way of helping them find their animals."
