The senior softball players from Papillion La Vista and Millard West High Schools organized the benefit. It included raffle tickets, baked goods and entertainment for fans, while the girls battled it out no the diamond.
The players were representing those who fought a much more difficult opponent.
"It's near and dear to a lot of our girls hearts. In fact a lot of our honorees have been escorted out by their granddaughters. So it is near and dear to all of their hearts,” Parent Organizer Lisa Foster said.
No word on how much was raised. At last check they hoped for at least a $1,000. All donations go to the national foundation for cancer research.
