After flirting with the notion of a potential congressional bid in 2014, Omaha City Council President Pete Festersen issued a statement Monday scratching that notion from his agenda.
The statement quotes Festersen as saying, "There’s widespread dissatisfaction with Congress and its inability to address our nation’s challenges and I continue to believe that we need people in Washington who can work together to get things done.
At this point in time, however, I’ve determined I can have a greater impact on my community by staying focused on being a father, a business owner, and President of the Omaha City Council.
I’ve appreciated all of the local support and national encouragement, but have decided I will not be a candidate for Congress in 2014.”
Festersen was elected to the council in 2009. He represents District One.
