Omaha city council member for district one, Pete Festersen has announced his bid for re-election.
He kicked off his campaign at the eCreamery in Dundee Monday morning.
Festersen says over the past four years he's been able to accomplish a lot thanks to the business leaders in his district including the neighborhoods of Florence, Benson and Dundee.
He touts voting against property and restaurant taxes, pension reform, and adding new police and cruisers in the neighborhoods.
He also implemented community development programs but says there's more to be done in the future.
"Now the next four years are going to require continued focus on the city's challenges to keep our neighborhoods safe and strong," Festersen said. "And for me, that's continued focus on holding the line on taxes, and fighting crime in our neighborhoods, and following through with creating jobs in our neighborhood business districts, and seeing these jobs through."
eCreamery celebrated Fesetersen's announcement by creating two special flavors of ice cream: "Thanks Pete" and "Festelicious."
