A convicted felon is back in custody. La Vista police say not only did an officer see the man speeding, but he was in a stolen car and armed with a gun.
Around eight o'clock Friday morning, an officer reported two cars speeding down 84th Street. One of those cars was found at the IHOP near Harrison.
The La Vista police officer ran the license plate and called the owner, who had just reported the vehicle stolen to the Omaha Police Department. According to police, the officer went inside and was told a man had come in moments before, changed clothes, and left.
Officers immediately started searching the area and received a call from a homeowner, who reported some suspicious going through backyards. The suspect was arrested hiding behind a Chevy Blazer. He had allegedly dumped a handgun nearby.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Zackery Bornhoft. He was booked for possession of stolen vehicle, felon in possession of firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
