Father Helps Wife Deliver Baby On Lincoln Sofa

A volunteer firefighter has helped his wife deliver their baby daughter on a snowy day in Lincoln.

Sara Fritsch's contractions were coming 5 minutes apart Thursday when she and her husband, Tom, bundled up their three children and drove them to the home of Sara's friend Kris Maul, where they dropped them off with Maul.

The hospital was about 30 minutes away on snowy streets. But as Tom Fritsch began pulling out of Maul's driveway, his wife had another major contraction. She told him they wouldn't make it to the hospital, so they went inside Maul's home, where Maul soon prepared a sofa.

Tom Fritsch, who's been a volunteer firefighter for 23 years, washed up and then helped deliver 5-pound, 10-ounce Cecelia.
