The new CommonGround program that the Nebraska Corn and Soybean
boards are sponsoring is planning to hold an event in Lincoln on Saturday to make it easy for shoppers to learn more about agriculture.

A group of Nebraska farm women will be at the Hy-Vee store at 84th and Holdrege streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to talk about farming and how much farmers have in common with most consumers.

Shana Beattie, a farmer from Sumner, says the group hopes to dispel misconceptions about farming and food safety.

The group plans to hand out cookbooks and grocery gift cards to shoppers.
