It's what makes driving dangerous; no one can control the drivers around them. The Maynard family's life changed in a moment when a drunk driver struck their car at a red light.
Jonathan Maynard remembers his reaction right before impact.
"I looked in my rear view mirror and I see a black Monte-Carlo swerving, and I looked right at my wife, she was heading right for us, I looked at my wife and said brace yourself," said Maynard.
Just before impact, the car turned, hitting just the back right side of the car.
"The wheel turned, it took off half of our car on the side where my daughter was sitting," said Maynard.
The driver, Shirley Bhatti was arrested for drunk driving. But that charge won't change the physical and emotional damage brought on the family. Jonathan now walks with a cane and his wife dealing with neck problems; medical issues that haven't made life any easier.
"Well I lost my job, we are depending on my wife's pay check. My wife has to go to work, but still she has some neck injuries that she has to go to a doctor about. We rely mostly on her pay check and it is what it is. And insurance is going to cover most of the medical bills," said Maynard.
If you want to help the Maynard family, they have an account open at any U.S. Bank under the Jonathan Family Account.
