Two best friends were killed in an accident during wintry weather last week. Now family members are speaking out about their loss.
"This has been a great shock. Just to have a man taken like that, hurts the most," said Bailee Trobaugh.
It's been a devastating week for Bailee and her brother Blake Stevens after they got the news their father, 59-year-old George Trobaugh and his best friend, 54-year-old Frank Besch, were killed in an accident on Highway 36 Thursday.
The two were driving in the wintry weather when their pickup left the road and rolled. They worked at the same company and were on their way to lunch.
"The shooting, the camping and building fires, just everything he taught me will always stay with me," said Bailee.
They said he also taught them to always look at the good and smile, something their trying to do now through this hard time.
They do have advice though for people driving this winter. "Everybody needs to be cautious at all times," said Blake Stevens.
As for Bailee's advice, like her father, she can't help but make a joke with her reply. "I'm going to curse winter and move somewhere warm so I don't have to deal with it."
George was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Navy. His family plans to make a donation in his honor to the Disabled Veterans of Nebraska.
George's funeral will be Tuesday at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries at 3 p.m. Frank's will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reichmuth Funeral Homes.
