An alpaca missing from a Fort Calhoun family's pasture since Tuesday was found Thursday night, but died on Friday.
Summer, the alpaca, was found on a neighbor's property stuck in a crevasse. The animal was freed and checked by a vet. Summer suffered some stress injuries.
The family said alpacas travel in a herd and Summer would not normally wander off. The Washington County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the alpaca's disappearance.
The seven-year-old Summer is the mother of a three-month-old.
