A Lincoln family was forced from their home Thursday morning by a fire that caused extensive damage.
The blaze near North 73rd and Colby streets started in the attached garage and was reported around 5:45 a.m. The cause remains under investigation.
LFD Battalion Chief Jeanne Pashalek said crews faced an additional challenge after a power line to the house burned and live wires were on the ground in the back yard. LES crews were called to shut off the power.
"We're going to be here for quite a while because the fire did travel through walls and void spaces. We have a lot of overhaul to do to try and find any remaining hidden fires that are in walls or attic spaces."
