It is late October and that means freezing weather is just around the corner, so for gardeners it’s time to take care of their fruits and vegetables.
On this sunny October Saturday, families of the Gifford Park Community Garden in Omaha were doing just that. “Once everything turns brown because of a frost, then we get it out of the ground, so it’s time," said Betsy Goodman.
Many gardeners were pulling up their tomatoes, radishes, broccoli and peppers. It’s a fun day for kids and their parents, but this could be the last time they meet together at the garden this year as winter approaches.
Until then, they have a delicious reminder to take home with them.
