Hamilton was required to register as a sex offender due to a 1998 conviction for sexual assault of a child from Wood County, Wisconsin, according to U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg.
In April, he was stopped by the Lincoln Police Department, and at that time gave a false name of “Barry Davis” to the officer.
Further investigation identified Hamilton through fingerprints as a sex offender wanted out of Wisconsin.
He admitted that he was aware of his responsibilities to register as a sex offender in Nebraska, but had failed to do so.
This case was investigated by the United States Marshal’s Service.
