The City of Omaha is warning residents that due to the extreme heat, there may be some delays this week with trash collection.

Some residences in the Monday service area may remain uncollected this evening, but Deffenbaugh employees will work early Tuesday to finish in these areas and then continue into the Tuesday service sector. Please allow materials to remain at your set out location until collected.

Residents can report any missed collections to the City’s Solid Waste Hotline, (402) 444-5238, after 7:00 PM on their normal collection day.

According to a news release, Deffenbaugh workers have been instructed to slow their pace, drink extra fluids, and seek shaded areas for rest often. Additional workers are also being hired to help relieve heat-stressed employees.
