End Of The Line For Fremont Dinner Train
The Fremont Dinner Train will make its last run Sunday before shutting down and moving operations to Baldwin City, Kansas.
About 100 people will be aboard when the Dinner Train leaves the station at 1:30 p.m.
Bruce Eveland, manager of the Dinner Train, announced in August that he was working on a deal to relocate the Dinner Train to Baldwin City.
Plans are to begin moving the Dinner Train’s cars later this month with hopes of opening in Kansas by late November or early December, Eveland said.
The move, he said, is based on stability, particularly as it relates to infrastructure, after Mike Williams, owner of Richmond, Missouri-based Railroad Materials Salvage Inc. bought the Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railroad line, now known as the Fremont Northern Railroad, in December 2010, and has yet to make promised track and locomotive repairs.
Sunday’s last run will be marked with one of the Dinner Train’s popular World War II USO dinner shows.
