A Western Douglas County icon is coming back.
The Dairy Chef in Elkhorn closed a few months ago after being open since 1969.
Mike Ozmun bought the ice cream store when he saw the for sale sign go up.
Ozmun and family and friends have renovated the building and upgraded the kitchen area.
He says he also wants to pay homage to the restaurant's history in the community as well.
"We've been involved with the historical society and they've given us a lot of pictures, a lot of, prints and we're going to put them all throughout the building yeah," he said.
Ozmun repainted the store inside and out white and red -- Elkhorn High's school colors.
He adds that the menu will have a local flair as well, the ice cream "Buzzard" will now be called "Storm" and there will be an "Antler Sundae."
And the name --- Dairy Chef --- will remain.
Ozmun plans to open within a few weeks.
