Information for candidate filing in 2012 Elections. The candidate filing window has re-opened in Nebraska. Incumbents have until February 15th to file; the non-incumbent deadline is March 1st.
Of note, the state law has changed on incumbent status, says Elections Specialist Kendra Green of the Cass County Election Commissioner’s Office.
The Cassgram reports anyone who currently holds an office is considered an incumbent, even if they are filing for an office other than the one they currently hold. As an example, a village board member wanting to file for county commissioner must now follow the incumbent filing deadline.
