Elderly Voter Gets Suspicious Call

An elderly Omaha voter got a suspicious call he suspects was to fool him into not voting today. The caller claimed the 76 year old man had already been sent an absentee ballot and would be turned away at his polling place.

Bob Rasgorshek told Fact Finders, “Made me mad because there could be people that would feel as though they shouldn’t even come in to vote.” Bob’s caller ID showed a Nebraska phone number that leads to a recorded message. It claims support of the Romney campaign and sponsored by the Nebraska republic party. However Jordan Mcgrain of the Nebraska Republican Party told Fact Finders the party is in no way connected to the number and message. Mcgrain said, “It clearly is an effort by somebody who wants the suppress the republican vote in Douglas county by giving voters false information.”

Though concerned at first Bob Rasgorsheck went to vote Tuesday anyway. He asked the polling place staff, “You don’t have any record of me having an absentee ballot do you? No was the reply.

Bob reported the call to the Nebraska State Patrol which will have an investigator look into it. Though the number is likely a cell phone. The Douglas County Democratic Party Chairman told Fact Finders the party had nothing to do with the deceiving phone calls.
