Omaha is getting some financial help from the federal government to help pay for a nearly $8 million sewer improvement project.
The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday awarded a $1.1 million grant to the city to separate combined sewers in the Country Club area. The EPA says the project will reduce overflows and backup problems, which will help improve water quality and public health.
The project includes new storm sewer, curb inlets, manholes and
a bio-retention area. It's slated for completion in the spring of 2013.
