Nusport quoted Max van Heeswijk as answering "yes" when asked
during an interview in June whether he had used the drug.

Van Heeswijk said the journalist misunderstood him, and that he was referring to vitamins that he took in preparation for a race.

The retired cyclist, who rode with the U.S. Postal Service team, broke down in tears during a television interview about the dispute on Wednesday. He says, he was "one of the cleanest ones."

Van Heeswijk acknowledges he destroyed the reporter's recording in anger.
