Drug And Weapons Cases Lead To Prison

A total of fourteen individuals from Marshalltown, Iowa, and
elsewhere have been have been sentenced on federal drug, gun and witness tampering charges.

In September 2010, Juan Armas Sanchez, Soraya Armas, Catalina Avila, Seopoldo “Tony”Armas, Megan Woodard, Alfredo Flores Silva, Donald Boucher, Juan Reyes, Debra Armstrong,
ose Carbajal, and Tad Walker were charged in the Southern District of Iowa with conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Juan Armas Sanchez and Omar Calderon were also charged with offenses related to the possession of a firearm by Armas, a felon. Juan Armas Sanchez, age 33, of Marshalltown, pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess a firearm after being convicted of a felony offense. He was sentenced on October 30, 2011, to concurrent terms of imprisonment of 360 months for the drug conspiracy and 60 months for the firearm conspiracy, and was ordered to serve a term of term of 10 years supervised release following the terms of imprisonment.

On October 12, 2011, Omar Calderon of Marshalltown was sentenced to one year of probation following his plea to false statement in acquiring a firearm. Juan Reyes, age 19, of Marshalltown, was sentenced on August12, 2011, to 36 months imprisonment for use of a communication facility to facilitate drug trafficking, and was also ordered to serve a term of one year of supervised release.
