Drug Charges Filed

Drug charges filed west of the metro.

Scott Tingelhoff, Saunders County Attorney, reports Jason Vacek was charged with Possession of Meth, a class IV Felony, which has a maximum sentence of up to 5 years imprisonment, DUI Drugs-2nd Offense, a class W Misdemeanor, which has a maximum sentence of up to 6 months imprisonment. He is scheduled to appear in the Saunders County Court for a Felony First Appearance on March 13, 2013 at 9:00 a.m.

On January 19, 2013, an officer with the Ashland Police Department observed a vehicle speeding. After speaking with Vacek, the officer ran his canine around the vehicle, which located methamphetamine. In addition, Vacek appeared to be under the influence and failed the sobriety tests that were administered.
