Driving Too Fast For Conditions

The slick streets provided a trip that Arial Jenkins and her brother Eric will never forget. She lost control of her Honda on the 132nd street exit off L and the car went sliding down an embankment then slammed nose first into a snow covered culvert.

Arial Jenkins said, “I just lost control and got scared. It stopped but my car is ruined now so it’s not good.”

Both driver and passenger got out unhurt. Most crashes during the day provided more anxiety than injury.

Tow truck drivers were busy and that caused delays in responding to accident calls. On highway 50 near just off I-80, a tow driver said he was on his 10th tow call in four hours.

While some needed to be pulled from drifts other pushed snow. Dan Lamplot owns a plow for private parking lots. Lamplot said, “It’s been very slow winter. I’ve been looking forward to pennies falling from heaven.”
